I love finance!  I've been a banker my entire career but have done many different things within banking.  I financed aircraft worldwide, completed nearly $ 1 billion in asset securitizations, started several successful specialty finance companies, implemented the nCino Bank Operating System several times at different banks, and managed commercial lending teams.  I still hold the world record for the fastest nCino implementation - 72 days!  I've digitally transformed many lending functions to improve efficiency and speed.  In 2015, I won a Bank Director Fintech award for building an all-digital loan product that took an application to close in 7-minutes!  The efficiency created with our digital tools cut overhead by 80%.  More recently, I was the Chief Lending Officer at Huntingdon Valley Bank, "HVB". 

 

While in that role, I led the build-out of our PPP engine, closed the world's first commercial loan-backed cryptocurrency program with Maker DAO's Dai, built an eCommerce bank to fund Amazon sellers called Braavo Bank, and helped develop an app-based consumer finance business.  I accomplished the above during my three-year tenure at HVB while building the commercial lending group growing the loan portfolio from $13 million to over $300 million and helping the bank diversify its business away from residential mortgage lending.  We added interest rate swaps to enable us to offer low fixed rates to our borrowers while generating significant swap fee income.  We added SBA lending through a partnership with Innovative Financial Services (IFS) a Lender Service Provider.  This boosted small business loan production and generated more fee income from the sale of the guaranteed portion of the SBA loans.  I added cash management tools and turned this area from a cost center to a profit center generating $500,000 in pretax income while boosting deposit balances.  It was an amazing run!

On October 19, 2022, HVB agreed to be acquired by First Citizens Community Bank for approximately $70 million, 1.68x book value.  In March 2024 I joined Ponce Bank (a CDFI bank) in NY to help build their Business Banking business and add SBA lending to the product suite.  The new SBA group was built in record time and began closing loans in under 6 months.  We then started selling the guaranteed portion of the loans generating new fee income for the bank.  With this division operational, my work was complete.
